Thanks Cap tugwash, yes alot of ports don't allow ship side painting anymore because of environmental issues but in saying that Safmarine has been taking over by Maersk so i wouldn't think they would maintain a livery of a company that has been phased out.

It’s nearly impossible for a ship’s crew to paint over the side these days, bosun’s chairs and stages are very much frowned upon if not banned outright depending on company and maritime administration rules. Having a white hull also doesn’t help! But that’s an embarrassing state. I wonder do company superintendents ever browse these pictures?

She is in better condition in this photo than when i saw her in the Bosphorus a few years ago, good shot Paul.

The late Marmion Marsh, MD of Safmarine back then must be turning in his grave. NO Safmarine ship would ever have looked like that. Now that they are owned by AP Moller MAERSK, I guess the few remaining ex Saf ships will be repainted/named when their next surveys/drydockings are due.
