I recall when this vessel was in Saint John (mid-late 70's) loading a full cargo of newsprint (in reels) for Indonesia. I believe the booking was for a 2 port discharge (Surabaya/Jakarta). If memory serves me correctly a claim ensued alleging damage to cargo while in transit. What I found unusual at the time were statements contained in the survey report indicating the ship was fired upon while transiting the Java Sea (presumably by pirates)...The fact vessel reached its destination(s) suggests the perpetrators were unsuccessful.
