Hello Emmanuel, HUET = Helicopter Underwater Escape Training. The reason we include this is in case security officers are required to be transported to/from a vesl or or floating platform by helicopter. STCW see this link here https://www.stcwdirect.com/stcw-training/

Hello Emmanuel, no the crew are not alowed to be armed. Also, the arms taken onboard by the sercuity guards is not always allowed in certain ports/countries. Look after yourself. Kind regards, Brett.

But can the crew in a pirates attack be armed? say self defence? or can if they bear arms become involved in some judicial personal problems if injury or death happen to crew or even the pirates. I will not be surprised if these so called floating OMG involve themselves in defence of the aggressors.
regards
and take care my friend.

FYI my company provides training of the Ship Security Officer (SSO) ISPS course. We specialise in placing armed guards on ships in the HRA. We add on the STCW, HUET and weaponry as well as vessel familiarisation. We supply cruise lines and other companies. The SSO's work in teams. Normaly 4. Cruise lines employ more SSO's. Should a vesl come under attack, the entire team will muster. Hope that provides help. P.s. if guards are armed (most are these days) and master institutes evasive measures, the pirates usually turn away...espacially if they are being fired at.

That was about the number of armed security guards that came on when I passed through on cruise ships

Yes Bob,but will only 4 guards suffice on such a large ship? A concentrated attack by more than 0ne or two boats could overwhelm them.

She was on her delivery voyage from builders in China. Anti-piracy security guards would be on board from the Indian Ocean, past the high-risk Horn of Africa, into the Red Sea.
