Epoxy based paint is most common coating for outer and inner surfaces of the hull.

Relationship between all parties such owners and operators and managers are not complicated as might appears. Look into equasis.org And crew does not need to look for owner as usually various managers act as employers. Sometimes even for me (master) direct contact with owners is not recommended/not possible

For many years, shipowners have been doing everything they can to conceal their identity. I have worked on several ships clearly owned by the same - Dutch - shipowner, but in the documents each of them was owned by a different limited liability company, registered in the flag country.
In my case, these were ships registered in Cyprus, Liberia, the Marshall Islands and Panama. The registration address was usually the number of a post office box. In case of problems, finding the real owner can be a serious problem. Especially for the crew ...

Chas, Julietta D BV is located in Malta, and indeed Alliance is just the manager of the ship, performing all the duties that an owner should. I also found a reference that the UK company Norbulk is somehow involved with the ship. The PSC report of the ship is already showing the traces of neglect, so obvious for ships having all sorts of "hiding" measures surrounding them.

@Bob Scott, I did some reading, and epoxy coating for WBT is not mandatory, so is it cheaper than alternative solutions? (shipowners will always look for the cheapest options, see the open loop scrubber as a prime example)

Re : OWNERS ...

Shipowner - a person (legal or natural person) that operates its own or rented vessel. It employs a captain and a crew and is civilly responsible for the obligations arising from the operation of the ship.

Her opponent PECHORA STAR was owned/managed by a German company since new, the initial journalist might have mixed that up (not unusual with media involved these days) and all others copied.
Btw, a 2 weeks ago inspection of JULIETTA D came up with two deficiencies, the electric equipment in general was considerate as unsafe and the fire safety was not as required....the vessel being only 9 years of age.

The owner is Julietta D BV and the ship manager/commercial manager is Alliance Maritime.

Probably refers to epoxy-coated ballast water tanks

Why not ? But ... allways You can ask Alliace Maritime.

Just asking, but why would a bulk carrier have epoxy coating as per fleet list of Alliance?

Alliance Maritime - De Ruijterstraat 36, 2518 AS Den Haag, Netherlands
