Description:
The Japanese owned tanker ESPOIR in the Chemie Haven (Botlek) in a winter scenery, probably early 1983.
ESPOIR is product from the Uwajima Shipyard (#2095, part of the Kurushima Group) and was delivered in July 1979 to Chuyo Kisen. In 1982 she switched to the flag of Panama and the official owners adopted a fantasy name, but I suppose it was Chuyo Kisen, perhaps the ACS funnel markings can be explained by somebody.
Some years later I caught her in the Europoort, now with a funnel with a distinct Japanese flag in the markings.
In 1989 she was sold to Chembulk Investments, for operations under the Liberian Flag. In 2001 she changed ownership again to Gulf Energy but remained under the Liberian flag, until 2006 when the St.Kitts and Nevis flag was hoisted. In 2009 she was transferred to a Moroni (what's in a name) based company and she was reportedly scrapped in 2010, at an unknown location.
Remarkable she never changed her name.
PS: Hopefully the fence will not be seen as "terminal" obstruction, as her funnel markings are part of the history of the ship.
