Bugsier Reederei und Bergungs of Hamburg's 1962 Howaldtswerke built OSTFRIESLAND was photographed passing Gravesend inbound from Beira for London's Royal docks on the morning of 19th March 1972, exactly fifty years ago today, while on charter to Safmarine of South Africa .
OSTFRIESLAND was sold to China Ocean Shipping Co in 1977 to trade as HONG YIN, possibly modified in 1999 for containers.
