Description:
The AMAZON is pictured at Piraeus, at a time when ferries and general cargo ships shared the harbour basin. The 'waiting room' for the tugs was in a corner where at present the hydrofoils to Aegina have their berth. The ferry in the background is Minoan Lines' ARIADNE.
Built 1958 at Jonker & Stans, H-I-Ambacht, Netherlands (282). 17 t bollard pull coastal and harbour tug. 192 grt. 30.19 x 7.82 x 3.08 m. 1958 HECTOR (Bureau Wijsmuller, IJmuiden, Netherlands). 1983 AMAZON (Loucas G, Matsas, Piraeus, Greece). 2006 in service.
