I think you have a good point there Clive. Don't know about (e.g.) Carnival's financial situation, but when they got rid of their Fantasy-class ships they must have been cutting costs by a considerable amount.

I was thinking more of the likes of CMV, they really had over-stretched themselves and the whole Covid issue was the final straw. As for the Carnival fleet, with new ships lined up they really had too many ships and ultimately, a limited market in which they could be employed.

I think that the problem with some ship owners was that they had too much debt and no cash reserves to fall back on. The owner of this ship has resisted expanding their fleet so probably that enabled them to survive.

Very beautiful lighting in this photo Dogan. And it's nice to see that at her age she survived the pandemic while other cruise liners much younger than her were scrapped.
