Haha, yes, the thought had crossed my mind, but alas not. I actually think she looks smarter here than in Blue Star colours. Perhaps the charterer was a Union Castle fan or even used to work for them. Its a pity they didnt paint the hull lavender too!

Would have been cool, they didn't go the whole hog when Sea Princess did that vogae, only the funnel...disappointing actually..

Graham, I think that this was when she was on charter to the Chilean company Compania Sudamericana de Vaporessa (CSAV) which is now part of the Hapag-Lloyd group)

All she needs is red bootopping and lavender topside and she's a union castle ship, maybe as you say someone was a fan
Can't find any info on where she was running to,only found one other pic with this funnel livery.

There is a photo of her here on site of her in Blue Star colours with BANACOL on her hull taken at Zeebrugge in 1997. I have a press cutting from 1994 about police intercepting a drugs transport which had arrived on her also at Zeebrugge, in which she is described as a Colombian banana ship. In this photo she is passing Terneuzen with a Belgian courtesy flag. in 1990, so we can assume that she was at least sometimes involved in transporting bananas (amongst other things!) from Colombia to Belgium.
