Description:
KADMILOS, photographed by the late Dick Parsons during November 1972 at Avonmouth, while discharging a part cargo of animal feedstuffs from India, had a surprisingly long career which lasted from 1948 to 1979.
Bristol Channel photographers may be interested to know that, due to port congestion at Avonmouth on her arrival within port limits, she anchored in Walton Bay rather than remaining out as usual at Breaksea pilot station.
She had been built in 1948 by William Gray at Hartlepool and delivered to Suisse Atlantique of Basel, who named her GENERAL GUISAN, possibly having bought her "on the stocks".
In 1957, she was sold to Idwal Williams of Cardiff and renamed GRAIGFELEN.
Sold in 1966, and initially becoming IONIC BREEZE, she was renamed KADMILOS in 1967.
In 1973 she was sold at Karachi to Gokal's Gulf Shipping Lines Group and renamed FIVE CRESCENT, and later resold in 1975 to Philippine owners and renamed NATIONAL STEEL THREE for local trading.
She eventually arrived at Kaohsiung on 24.5.79 to be broken up.
