Description:
A example of the Soviet B1559 class product tankers, the Eyzhen Berg was built by Zaliv in Kerch as their yard number 702. Operated by the Latvian Shipping company, she became Konstantinos D in 1991 and in 1998 she was sold to Turkey and renamed ERCIYES. Finally in 2000 she was broken up at Alang under the appropriate name MILLENNIUM II.
With an installed power of 9600 BHP the 1559 type was capable of high speeds, and it is probably therefore that eight units were delivered to the Soviet Navy as auxiliaries, (type 1559G) keeping the full oil capacity but installed with refueling facilities and an open deck on top of the main deck.
Here incoming Rotterdam mid eighties in foggy conditions.
