Launched on 06/03/1954 by Scheepswerf "Voorwaarts", Martenshoek, Netherlands (192)
400 g.t. & 518 dwt., as:
'Roelof Buisman' to 1970, &
'Kakanui' until 18/01/1985 when, during a cyclone, she stranded on the reef at Suva, and sank there on 19/04/1986.
Lloyds of London reported the following:
07/01/1982: Vessel was laid up at Suva.
03/1983: Adrift, grounded and sunk, since refloated.
17-18/01/1985: Adrift.
28/6/1986: Adrift.
5/7/1986: Sunk Suva in harbour.

Suva was a lovely place to spend time ashore. I even 'accidentally' met Indira Gandhi there, she was on a state visit! - Really.
