Description:
Dieulemar owned bulkcarrier Filomena Lembo entering Rotterdam mid eighties.
Not so long after this shot, the ship was converted to a product tanker (several Italian built bulkers from that period underwent a similar conversion). The hatches remained in tact, and probably welded firm, so a product tanker with seven cargo tanks was a relatively easy conversion, the piping/pumping system being probably the most expensive part. Nevertheless the tanker had four segregations and seven individual cargo pumps , and her holds were epoxy coated too. the ballast tanks of the original ship functioned as SBT.
Interestingly several years later many SBT product tankers, designed with 7 or 8 central cargo tanks could easily be converted to bulk carriers and many of these redundant tankers made this conversion.
A later conversion to full double hull allowed the ship to trade until 2017, when she was broken up in Bangladesh.
