In a strong south easterly gale, the Gray Vixen assists with the departure of the general cargo ship 'Explorer', which exits stern first from the Dock Basin.
Keel laid on 18/04/1984, launched on 28/09/1984, & completed on 30/11/1984, by De Groot & Van Vliet, Slikkerveer, Netherlands (409)
3,986 g.t. & 6,120 dwt., as:
'Samsun Express' to 1985,
'Frisian Explorer' to 1987,
'Explorer' to 1999,
'Ajax' to 2000,
'Capitaine Bligh' to 2001,
'Sofrana Bligh' to 2001,
'Ajax' to 2003,
'Sofrana D'Urville' to 2004,
'S D'Urville' to 2005, &
'Seachampion' until on the 07/08/2014, she caught fire and suffered extensive damage, in a position 42.35N, 133.09E.
Subsequently, later sold to China for demolition.
Arrived at Jingjiang on 29/12/2016.
