Description:

KONG SIGURD. Contracted in March 1925, built by Nylands Verksted, Oslo for A/S Det Sondenfjelds-Norske Dampskipsselskab, Oslo. Launched 29th August 1927, building costs NOK 600.000. Tonnage 1.230 dwt, 916 grt, 419 nrt, dim.: L: 212,2’, B: 32,2’, D: 12,5’. Two boilers, triple expansion 3-cylinder steam engine, all built by the yard, 161 nhp, 11.5 knots. Passengers: 12 first and 6 third class. Mostly sailing Oslo, Kiel, Hamburg and return. During WW2 in Norway (under German occupation). Air attack 27th October 1944 at Bodo, some damages, 3 of the crew wounded. Stranded at Hurumlandet in October 1946, the repairs took 3 months. Sunk in collision on 07th December 1949 with Danish mv SELANDIA near Filtvet in Oslofjord whilst on a voyage from Porsgrunn to Oslo with copper and general cargo. Sank at a depth of 235 meter.
