Description:

LOUKIA, recently purchased by Christos Contoyannis, was photographed berthed at Rotterdam on 30th March 1975 while loading a cargo for Jeddah. She had arrived at Rotterdam in darkness on 24th March, possibly as MAREANTES, and sailed on 8th April.

LOUKIA was built by Short Bros. at Sunderland in 1960 as BRIGHTON for Chapman & Willan of Newcastle.

Later: 1976 MELPO - 81 DESPOULA K.

After sailing from Kpeme in Lome on 20 November 1981, bound for Romania, DESPOULA K. put into Monrovia on 27th November 1981 and remained there until towed away on 2nd September 1982 by FORUM CRAFTSMAN for breaking at Sveti Kajo, near Split, in Yugoslavia. However, when outside of Monrovia port, she broke tow and was wrecked.
