This ship was built in 1967 as the self-propelled drilling ship GLOMAR GRAND ISLE (6806999). In 1989 she was sold to All Alaska Seafoods and renamed ALASKAN GRAND ISLE. Her conversion to a seafood processor was never completed, and she remained idle in Lake Union, Seattle WA, until towed to China for scrap in 2000. Your photo shows how she looked in 1995, when she was given the stage name "DAKAR" and played the naughty tanker in the movie "Free Willie 2". I was captain of her when she was drilling in Indonesia, and have never seen a photo of her when painted-up for her movie role. Thank you for posting this!
