CHARLES DICKENS (7146grt 1942) was an early WWII standard steam cargo ship, 'Ocean' Class, She was built at Portland, ME, as OCEAN GALLANT becoming Ben Line's BENNEVIS in 1946 and CHARLES DICKENS in 1959. Here she is in the Alexandra Basin, Dublin, on 30 June 1962. Ahead of her is the 'Liberty' ship THANKSGIVING (7176grt 1944) built as WILLIAM E DODD by Jones Construction at Panama City.
