The owner / operator of this ship ( Polska Zegluga Morska ) survived the problems generated by the communist government of Poland ( including martial law ) , the company survived the madness and incompetence of the Polish authorities in the first years after the change of political system ...
It is a pity that the traditions failed to survive... PZM ships, from the beginning of their activity, wore the colors of the previously liquidated Polish Shipping Company (black hulls, black funnels with the PZM mark and white superstructures).
There were, of course, exceptions to this rule - oil tankers, liquid sulfur ships, a few general cargo ships - taken over from the PLO; All ships proudly carried the Polish flag. That's how I remember the PZM ships, I used to work on them, I used to meet them in ports (almost) all over the world a dozen or so years ago. Today we see different colors (blue dominates), exotic, "comfortable and cheap" flags, home ports with foreign names instead of SZCZECIN, crews reduced to the necessary minimum and probably (often) composed of foreigners. It's still the same company ... So much that it's not mine anymore. It's good to have memories...
