USSR. On November, 10th, 1982 Leonid Ilich Brezhnev has died. According to the decision of the Central Committee of the CPSU it has been decided to immortalize L.I.Brezhnev's memory. There is a version that because of a typing error in the decision the name has been appropriated to not under construction ice breaker, and operating, and during the period since 1982 and till 1986 ice breaker ARKTIKA bore a name LEONID BREZHNEV, instead of the under construction ice breaker which has been named subsequently SOVETSKIY SOYUZ.
