All that matters is that you are doing something you enjoy which takes you out and about and keeps you fit (I hope). Its a bonus to get a good shot but not always possible with weather etc.

As a matter of curiosity Martin, how long did it take you to master the intricacies of piloting a drone?

Sorry Matt , missed your question.Quite a while, as you can't teach an old dog new tricks! Rather worrying at first and still learning with new circumstances all the time but starting to enjoy. Can only use in certain wether though, rgds Martin

I think it''s time I hung up the camera for this new breed of photographers - "The Drones". You just can't compete with the quality and the sheer awesomeness of the technique.

Who cares, drones or not.... You have the camera & you see the ship. If the ship is of your interest & if you see it alright from your position or can find a better one, then take a pic & upload as a record that you saw this ship.
When I had no camera, I wasn't jealous of those who have camera & can snap great pics with just a click. I simply kept sketching (by pencil on paper) every interesting ship I saw as the only way to have it recorded somehow. I have those sketches from 20 years ago still.

Wow !! Denis, that's amazing. Just a shame we can't see your sketches. In fact, that could be a whole new Category for the database.
