Description:

Coast guard ship 'Delfin' belonging to the "Prefectura Naval Argentina", leaving the port of Buenos Aires on August 23, 2023.

She was originally a whaling ship whose construction began in 1956 by the Dutch shipyard Ijsselwerf and completed in 1957 by the builder Werf de Hoog in Rotterdam. She was the first in a serie of five sister ships called sequentially R-1 to R-5.

Owned by Compañía de Navegación Rosina (Panama) from 1957 to 1959, when she was sold to Calpe Shipping Co. (Gibraltar). In 1969 she was bought by argentine goverment and assigned as a patrol boat to Prefectura Naval Argentina in 1970.

Thanks Manuel for Your picture. Very interesting to see. Probably in Summer 1969 I shot a picture in Sandefjord, the whaling capital in Norway of the whaler "R 1", about 54 years ago, showing what PNA DELFIN GC13 looked like at that time. Her IMO no is 5288358. My 54 years old picture is in Shipspotting.
