Clive, thank you for the information. I sailed on her in 1980, she had a lot of charm at that time. Regards

I sailed on her in September 1982. That was her first season sailing out of Southampton. I had visited her some years back when she was still Kungsholm so was able to appreciate what had been changed/lost/spoiled. I sailed on her again in October 1985 and my third cruise on her was in December 1992. This was after her time with Princess Cruises. That very beautiful ballroom/lounge had been turned into a showlounge. It meant that the largest public room on the ship (apart from the dining room) was not really suitable for use during the day. The handsome furniture in the dining room had gone and the room had a more colourful decor when before it had been very calm and blue. P&O had never had a good reputation for food but for some reason it had been good on Sea Princess in those early years. On that 1992 cruise the food was down to the usual P&O standard. Still, it was a three weeks cruise UK to the Caribbean and back, so it was good to have experienced the ship on nice long Atlantic crossings.

Even though P&O should have never made those changes to this lovely ship, in these early days when she was Sea Princess, she was still rather special. Sadly, she spent some time with Princess Cruises and further changes were made that further spoiled her interiors.
