Description:

The general cargo ship Zephunter at the southern end of the Suez Canal in June 1987. The fact that she has a lantern rigged at the bow means that some of the transit must be in the dark.

Many thanks for posting this interesting photograph - the scene is familiar to me from trips to Port Tewfik in the mid 1990s - I presume that she was northbound?
ZEPHUNTER had arrived at Harwich on 23rd May 1987 from Bremerhaven, presumably to load cargo for a port in the Red Sea.
By 28th July 1987, she was sailing out of Hamburg, bound for Dakar.
