The US is pretty good at preserving naval ships. There are so many old aircraft carriers, battleships, etc. that are preserved as museum ships, but civilian ships are a different story.

This is unfortunately what happens in most countries. Against the background of these negative (in my opinion) examples, the Scandinavian countries , U.K. , Germany and the Netherlands U.K. look beautiful. There, historic ships are kept in a condition fit for use (to a limited extent, of course) and delight shiplovers visiting these beautiful countries. Truth be told, there's a lot to be jealous of.
Best regards.

It's a sad sight. A wonderful ship, winner of the Blue Ribbon... Can't a rich country like the USA afford to restore the splendor of a deserved and beautiful ship? RMS QUEEN MARY has found its home at the Long Beach waterfront. You can probably find more such places. The United States is a great and beautiful country...

Shame on that nation, maritime-wise! The vessel's name alone should be reason enough to preserve her as she deserves it.
Great photos, Fabian, thanks for posting!
