Description:

Contal Shipping of Hamburg (and Basle?)'s 1959 Alfred Hegenstein, Lübeck, built SEELAND, which was lengthened in 1969, westbound from the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel on 9th August 1975.

On 21st October 1997, during a voyage from Greece to Lebanon with a cargo of soil, she sadly foundered 20nm off Tartous with the loss of five of her crew members
