Description:

The Jebsen intra-european bulkers also took part in de Philippine General renamings. Wikipedia describes this man as:

" Regarded as one of the fiercest generals of his time, he succeeded Artemio Ricarte as the Commanding General of the Philippine Army. He was a pharmacist and army general who fought in the Philippine–American War before his assassination on June 5, 1899 at the age of 32"

The ship here was delivered during 1976 from the Norwegian Eide shipyard (#101) and has just adopted its latest name Island, making her age now 48 years, much higher than the man she was named after from 1985-1990. She is now trading in Africa, but was long seen in Europe, for instance as Wilson Riga.

This shot dates from around 1986.
