M/s ZAKOPANE ; prototype of the B446 series, general cargo ships built by the Adolf Warski Szczecin Shipyard for PLO (POLISH OCEAN LINES), structurally adapted for shipping on the line to the ports of the American Great Lakes. Shipyard number B446/I/1. Launching: March 2, 1968, completion and handover to the shipowner on November 30, 1968, entry into service on the North American line: December 5, 1968. ZAKOPANE was the first Polish ship to call at Portland (Maine; USA). From 1971 it sailed on the line from Gdynia to the Great Lakes. In September 1991 she was chartered to Euroafrica Shipping Lines, which employed her on the West African line. In May 1993 the ship was sold. It had a new name PEARL 1 and was registered under the Liberian flag. In December 1997 it arrived in Alang (India) where it was scrapped.
