Description:
Sultan Kurt ve Ortaklari's 1879 Mitchell & Co, Low Walker, River Tyne built YENI GUNDOGDU at anchor in the Upper Bosphorus on 21st December 1975.
Built as the yacht NORA for Jean B.Perret of Marseille, she subsequently took the following names:
1888: HIAWATHA (D.H.Macfarlane, then The Earl of Eglinton & Winton, then James D.Baird, then Wm. Baird, all of Southampton, then in 1910 by Max Schultz of Hamburg)
1911: CLARA (H.Hiller & W.Lang, Kiel)
1913: HIAWATHA (Noel P.Billing, London)
1915: POLYGON (R.E.V.James Ltd, Southampton)
1916: LA VALETTE (Vincent S.E.Grech, then H.M.Grayson, both of London)
1917: converted into a tug, operated by Ocean Salvage Co. Ltd. of London
1930: sold to Turk Gemi Kurtarma Ltd Sti of Istanbul and renamed AKBAS (1938: sold to Denizbank UM, 1952: Denizcilik Bankasi TAO)
1966: Rebuilt as the cargo ship YENI GUNDOGDU
1984: sold to Tahir Kose ve Ortaklari and renamed B.KARTAL
1993: sold to Ali Tonbayoglu
Her ultimate fate is unknown but she was deleted from the register in 2005
