Description:
The Soviet Union's passenger liner UKRAINA, built at Copenhagen in 1938 as BASARABIA for Romania to serve between Constantza and Alexandria, is seen near Istanbul on 22nd December 1975.
She was laid up at Istanbul for most of the 1940s before being ceded to the Soviet Union on 8 January 1945 by way of war reparation. Following a voyage from Havana to Odessa in August 1986 she was sent to Alang for scrapping in March 1987 under the abbreviated name of INA.
