MARIAN, the former RAMON DE LARRINAGA built by Wm.Pickersgill in 1954, departing from Avonmouth's old dock exactly fifty years ago today, on 14th March 1974, bound for Stavanger and Oslo with a part cargo of oilseed from Karachi.

She had become MARIANNA in 1969 and MARIAN in 1972.

On 26th March 1976, during a voyage from Rostock to the Persian Gulf with a cargo of cement, MARIAN grounded on sailing from Lisbon following engine repairs. She was refloated on the following day but sank under tow 13 miles off Cabo Raso.
