Nice series of photos you posted! Another 6 weeks and I will be doing the same thing at the same place!

Thanks. Yes, you'd best wait... It's not the high seas there but the wind was cold on the shutter finger

After seeing all the St Lawrence River photos posted this winter I have no desire to get near the area until close to the summer solstace! I suspect there may be one or two photographers up there whose shutter fingers have frozen off! While I exist in a landlocked situation at least it is high spring!

Nawwwwwwwwww, we can stand it. Serves you right for becoming a landlocked person. It has weakened your resistance to harsh life along the River. Get up here quick and get a life! :-P

Well, I certainly need a life but unfortunately I need a job too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cannot afford to lounge aimlessly about the shores of the St. Lawrence waiting for the ships, and other scenic attractions of La Belle Province. Wish I could. The closest I can come to that is employment as a teacher which gives me three months of relative freedom at the family homestead in Vermont.

I was pulling your leg of course :-D
Hope you can come and enjoy the river!

Well of course -- that is why one leg is longer than the other. In all seriousness I find the St. Lawrence River and Valley to be fascinating and well worth any time that can be spent along it. In the past few years my forays have either been between Trois Rivieres and QC or the Seaway. I have been to Sorel a few times and that would seem to be the closest place of choice for me but there was a bridge out that resulted in a fairly substantial detour - hopefully that is repaired by now. During the summer months I live literally on the border on Lake Memphremagog, about 5 miles west of where Interstate 91 enters Canada at Derby Line/Stanstead. I used to spend all my time photographing railroads and visited Dorval quite a bit but the sameness of today's railroads has shifted my interest to ships.
