Description:
The research vessel Acadia, in dock by the maritime museum of the atlantic, where she now stays.
The vessel was built in 1913, and was converted from
a research vessel into the Royal Canadian Navy in 1917. She was a research vessel after the war until 1939 when she was re-converted into a warship, I believe the only Canadian vessel to do this and survive, but do correct me if I'm wrong. After this,
in 1949 she was used to chart the coasts of Newfoundland after it entered confederation.
This vessel is one of the best of its time.
Type: former research vessel, and military vessel.
Built: 1913
Gross tonnage: 846
Flag: Canada
