No need to rap his knuckles Phil.A lot of us are interested in the ships for themselves without getting into the minutia of IMO numbers.Leave that to the diehards.Les pures et dures as we say in Quebec!

This vessel survived just long enough (weeks/months) in 1969 to get the seventh, check digit added to its six-digit LR number, which was 534458. The check digit was 0, giving it what would have become an IMO number of 5344580

Bryan, in my view anyone with a genuine interest in ships should acquaint themselves with the IMO numbering system. I recommend that you take a look at the helpful link that David has posted so that you can get a better understanding of how and why it is applied. This is especially valid advice if you like to track ships' histories.
