I was on the Macedon too(twice)as a deckboy with all those old farts at the time! Used to go to Port Adelaide, the old ship your talking about aren't you? Used to go to CSR wharf!

My Dad was Bosun on the Escort from the time she was the James Cook, he picked her up from Kobe. I did a few trips my self as an O.S. to Japan. I think the Australian Emblem was the sister ship. Dad would have loved this site if he was still alive. I remember our cabins were way ahead of most Merchant ships at the time, and I also remember lugging around chains for lashing the 1400 or so containers with a shocking hangover lol.
