Description:

Between 1959 and 1968 Charles Connell's yard at Scotstoun in Glasgow built ten fast cargo liners for Ben Line of Leith, a continuation of the many they had built previously.
This is BENLEDI completed in 1965 and taken at the Diesel Wharf at Scotstoun just before trials.
She lasted with Ben Line only until 1972 when she was sold to the Italia Line and renamed DA NOLI.
Later she became TINA B and TINA BELLO and as plain TINA had a sad end in 1987 when I believe she foundered on a voyage.
Ben Line had a subsequent BENLEDI in 1972, the former P&O BALLARAT.

Excellent ships and company who vied with "Blue flu" for the "top dog" spot in the Far East trade. I remember when Ben introduced the first 21 knot ship to the Singapore express service which frightened the daylights out of India Buildings :-D Only one problem with Ben, they would'nt give me a job as I was a Sassenach :-D
