Description:
Photo of a photo taken by me in the 80's showing the wooden coaster "Montcalm" dying slowly on the Island "Isle-aux-Coudres", St-Lawrence river, Quebec, Canada.
A page of history gone when she disappeared, people on the island used to build their own boats out of wood taken across the river. And then they would sail their boats on the river...usually carrying more wood up and down the river. Very few people alive today remember the way to build wooden boats on the St-Lawrence river...
In tribute to those men who worked hard to keep the tradition alive

When he died, my oncle Gérard became her skipper and then his younger brother Jean-Paul took over. The G.Montcalm left the family in the early 1960 when she was purchased by Nérée Harvey from Ile aux Coudres.
