Description:

11,034 g.t. built in 1961 by Alexander Stephen & Son at Linthouse, Glasgow as Shaw Savill's Iberic. Renamed Deseado in 1976 when she was transferred to Royal Mail Lines service.
Sold to Maistros Wind Shg. Co. of Greece in 1981 and renamed San George.
Scrapped at Chittagong in 1983.
Seen here laid up on the River Fal at King Harry Ferry on 8th July 1982.

I sailed on the Deseado in what was probably 1979 but from what I remember she was well past her best even then.

What a gem John,
I only got to photograph a couple os SS&A ships.
They were anachronistic to say the least.
But a very nice profile indeed.
