Description:

Actually I really don't know if I put this photo into the right category. I made this shot on 26.10.2004 in Neustädter Hafen in Bremen. She bears old DDG Hansa colours at her funnel. But in DDG Hansa's chronicle I couldn't find this ship. Maybe somebody can help me in this case.

Hi Jens,

thanks for your info. I always wondered about the funnel mark. I'll check my literature of German Navy to find out more.

By the way: I have the vessel LP 2 as a model in my 1:1250 scale model collection.

Regards,
Holger

Some info found...

Former auxiliary vessel of the German submarine fleet (U-Boot Batterie Ladeprahm LP 2), in service 1964 - 2000.

L/B/D (m): 27,60 / 7,00 / 1,70

Acquired by Förderkreis Bremer Denkmalschiff in 2002 and renamed "Visurgis". "Visurgis" received the DDG Hansa funnel mark just as a reminder of the former Bremen-based shipping company (Förderkreis had acquired the rights to use the logo).

With the help of "Visurgis" Förderkreis Bremer Denkmalschiff was hoping to raise funds to acquire the pilot ship "Kapitän Hilgendorf".

I found these bits of info here (under topic no. 4 "Maritimes", alas it's only in German):

Cheers,
Jens
