July 12, 2007 (Singapore) / July 11 (NY): Tanker Pacific Management and the U.S. Coast Guard reported the M/T WHITE SEA, a double hulled 99,000 ton tanker carrying a cargo of 556,000 barrels of low sulphur fuel oil from Bayonne, NJ to Singapore, went aground at 6:24 AM 4 miles south of the Verrazano Bridge when it lost steering in the Ambrose Channel. There was no apparent leakage of cargo or bunker from the vessel. There was some damage to the outer hull at the fore port peak tank and the #1 port ballast tank. The vessel’s Master is Capt. Satish Dhawde, 35, who has been at sea for 17 years, 5 in command of ocean going tankers.

July 13, 2007 (Singapore) / July 12 (NY): A barge with capacity to off load about 20,000 tons of cargo scheduled be alongside by 10:20 PM.

July 14, 2007 (Singapore) / July 13 (NY): Successfully refloated Friday evening (High Tide at 7:59 PM) Anchored nearby for underwater inspection prior to continuing voyage to Singapore. A Captain of the Port Order is prohibiting the ship from departing until a satisfactory inspection by the ship's classification society. Seas were reported as calm.
