The Great Lakes bulker Montrealais meets the saltwater general cargo ship Carola as it approaches Lock 4 on the Welland Canal in Ontario on July 14, 2007. The Montrealais is a vintage "straightdecker" Great Lakes ship -- it was built in 1962 (note the fairly low IMO number) and has never, thank goodness, been outfitted with a self unloading boom and conveyor system.
