I would agree with you regarding the ship behind, definately a late 60s Sietas build ship.
However, I don't think that the one in the foreground is a former Cairn Line. The mid 70s built were rather more boxy in appearance. See:
http://www.shawsavillships.co.uk/carrier.htm
They also had some slightly older ships which I think were reminiscent of Prince Line vessels.
I'd be more inclined to think that she is another German build.

please see my uploaded photo of Jakob an ex cairn line coaster which is very similar indeed. However I'm not about to fall out with you if you disagree

I take it back, you are right :-)
There was obviously more than the two classes of Cairn ships that I was thinking of.
Your memory is clearly in much better shape than mine :-)

I would almost definately say that the nearest vessel to the camera, is formerly British.
Shaw Savill (Cairn Line) had some ships of this type
I am not sure where they were built. I know for certain that some of this class are still around. I saw one in Ipswich in 2003. The other vessel appears to be an early Seitas type built in the late sixties.
hope this is of some help.
regards
Derek
