Description:

ORANTUS, owned by PALMYRA TSIRIS LINES of Piraeus, is seen passing Suez northbound on 23rd June 1995.

Built as STURMFELS in 1972 for DEUTSCHE DAMPFSCH. GES. "HANSA" of Bremen, she was sold in 1980 to Christian F. Ahrenkiel of Hamburg and renamed IBERIA

In 1984 she was sold on to Pacific International Lines of Singapore and renamed KOTA JAYA.

She became ORANTUS in 1993 and subsequently arrived at Chittagong on 27.10.96 to be scrapped

She was a training ship for 50 cadets (35 nautical and 15 technical). I sailed on her in 1977/78. Great experience! It was the best time of my life. We sailed between the east cost of the USA an the Persian Gulf.
