Hi Cornelia

Good to see that you have been into the Port of Tyne again - which DFDS Ferry?

The Northern Producer has been in the Tyne since 2 August 2007 for a refit at McNulty’s Yard, South Shields. She is due to leave next week, although I see on the Port of Tyne Schedules that she has an 'estimated' departure slot - http://www.portoftyneonline.co.uk/harbour/expected_shipping.asp

Hi Steve, thanks alot for your info on this !! McNulty's yard, just one more question, is this the same one, that has converted the Danish Railway ferry "Dronning Ingrid" into a Mercy Ships Hospital ?
And yes, I have been to North Shields and then Newcastle, again and again, this time also again with "King of Scandinavia". I managed to get good photos of the "Queen of Scandinavia" which was berthed behind us. Hereand my cousin works and lives in Newcastle, so I always have a reason to go there, and will go a few more times, I think. :-D

Hi Cornelia

Yes, the AFRICA MERCY was at McNulty's Yard for a very long time - 5 years perhaps. It was later moved the A&P Yard further up stream at Hebburn and completed.

I myself was on the KOS last weekend (Sunday/Monday/Tuesday and had a good time in Ijmuiden taking lots and lots of photographs - not much river traffic these days on the Tyne, so I'm having t cast my net further afield

Same here, I keep travelling alot, not much of seagoing ships here on the river rhine and I am simply not into river-boats, hehe !! So I keep travelling by ferry and others. Been after that to Rotterdam, also took photos and travel to Norway after that, Oslo and a few other places, too.
I think about writing a little travel-report on the King of Scandinavia here, not sure if anyone is interested and ok, to describe the ship which I travelled first on, when it was still the "Val de Loire" and which has changed, in some ways, but in generally to the better. DFDS service, better than Brittany Ferries service is ONE thing just. Then comes better food, Danish pastry and and and... :-D

Hi Cornelia

Well I would like to read your report - there is a part of the Forum specifically for this "Trip Reports".
