Description:
I apologize for the quality, but I took this shot (as with some others I am posting) when I was a child with no photography knowledge and a cheap and indifferent camera.
Launched 15 March 1959 at Split by Brodogradiliste Split as hull no. 150 for Jadranska Slobodna Plovidba, Split. 460’8” x 61’8” x 39’5;” 9050 gt, 5476 nt; 6-cylinder FIAT Diesel, 6500-bhp. Later *Sea* (1985). Broken up at Kaohsiung 1986.
Jadranska Slobodna launched a Mediterranean-Great Lakes service in 1960 using some of the best-looking vessels to ever enter the lakes, in my opinion. Although the older and smaller *Zenica* and *Vares* were favorites of mine, the *Marko Marulić,* as even this poor shot taken in a pouring rain demonstrates, was in a class by herself in terms of looks. She is shown practically new at the International Steamship Terminal at 95th Street and the Calumet River, Chicago, Illinois USA, in August 1960.
Former name(s):
- Marko Marulic (Until 1985)
