Description:

I apologize for the quality, but I took this shot (as with some others I am posting) when I was a child with no photography knowledge and a cheap and indifferent camera.

Launched 12 March 1955 at Kiel by Kieler Howaldtswerke AG as hull no. 973 for A/S Dovrefjell (Olsen & Ugelstad), Oslo. 258’8” x 42’7” x 18’4.5;” 1661 gt, 814 nt; twin 6-cylinder Diesels, 365mm x 500, 2200-bhp, built by builder. Lengthened 1959: 297’4;” 1937 gt, 1002 nt. Later *Arta* (1967) and *Pacific Mulia* (1980). Broken up at Kaohsiung 1985.

Shown June 1963 at Navy Pier, Chicago, Illinois USA, while operating for Fjell-Oranje Line, the combined European Great Lakes service of Olsen & Ugelstad and Anthony Veder’s Oranje lijn, the pioneers in the Europe-Great Lakes trade.
