Description:
CLIO, the former MANCHESTER MERCHANT, built in 1951 by Blythswood at Scotstoun, Glasgow, and owned since 1967 by M.Macris of Piraeus, is seen at Tilbury Dock on 27th March 1971.
On 13th February 1972 she suffered a fire in her jute cargo while 700 miles west of Angola on voyage from Chittagong to Vlissingen. She was abandoned the next day and had sunk by the 22nd with the sad loss of five of her crew.
