Description:

JADE BAY is seen at Greenock on 8th November 1990 discharging the last few tonnes of a bulk sugar cargo which delayed her sailing to the following day (see photo submitted by Brian Fisher).

Built in 1972 as RAMON DE LARRINAGA by Austin & Pickersgill, Sunderland, she became JADE BAY in 1972 on her purchase by Vergottis.

In 1994 she was sold to The Great Eastern Shipping Company London Ltd, flagged Bahamas and renamed SANGITA.

She unfortunately grounded on 4th August 1994 when arriving at Cochin from Poland, sustaining damage to her rudder stock and steering gear. She was therefore sold to breakers at Alang, sailing Cochin 28/9/94 and arriving there prior to 31/10/94.(source: Marine News)
