Hi John, I am writing a textbook in Exploration Geophysics at the Norwegian University of Tech&Sci. I am also including pictures of old seismic vessels. Can I have your kind permission to use this Seis Mariner picture in the book, with acknowledgment to you? Regards, Lasse Amundsen

A very unusual vessel John , lovely piece of history too. Originally Bergen Lines 'Ara' of 1955.
Details in (easily decipherable ) Norwegian here :-
http://www.sjohistorie.no/portal/skip/a/Ara%201955
She was sold to Pacific Protein SA, Valparaiso, Chile in 1993, renamed "Cruz del Sur" and converted into a fish processing barge.
She caught fire and sank in an unknown Chilean harbour on 17/12/1995.
Regards, Rick

Brilliant instant piece of research there Rick, I really should have been able to find that myself!
I thought she had the look of an 'oldie' and doesn't she look wonderful in that picture of her as 'Ara'?
Thanks for the detail.
Regards
John J.
