Description:

River navy suffered loss in its' only action after the Second World War. Naval ship "mineviper 38" was sent to remove chekoslovakian ship Saras which which was allegedly loading of smuggled weapons in Kopacki rit, close to Apatin. Minolovas felt in the ambush and being an easy target was hit by hand granades Ambrust and "zolja". During this action two Lampert Kristian and Markovic Stevan were killed while the comender Zoran Markovic was wounded by a sniper. Although serioulsy wounded he managed to reach the river bank by help of couple of his staff and save the crew and ship from sinking. All this ahppend on Novemebr 8, 19991 while Danube up to Bezdan was still internal yugoslav river.
